New Delhi: A Delhi court on Monday granted three-day police custody to a priest and three others arrested for the alleged rape and murder of a nine-year-old girl near Delhi Cantonment in south-west Delhi earlier this month. sent in.
Additional Sessions Judge Ashutosh Kumar handed over the accused to the police, as he said that custodial interrogation was required as some new information had come to his notice.
All the accused were produced before the court from judicial custody through video conferencing.
The four accused have been identified as follows Radhey Shyam55-year-old priest and three employees of the cremation ground – Salim, Lakshmi Narayan and Kuldeep – who all know the girl’s mother, said the police.
In an application filed before the court, the Crime Branch of Delhi Police Demanded to take the accused on remand for 5 days to present them in front of witnesses and evidence.
According to the prosecution, the minor girl was raped, murdered and then cremated without the consent of her parents.
The case was recently transferred to the Crime Branch.
The Delhi Police registered a case against the four accused based on the statement of the minor’s mother, who alleged that her daughter was raped, murdered and cremated without the consent of the family on August 1.
The accused persons have been booked under sections 302 (murder), 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code as well as relevant sections. Protection of children from sexual offenses (poxo) Act and SC/ST Act.
