On the second day of the Elite Group match, Dhull scored 72 off 74 balls as Delhi scored four runs in an over. IPL star Ayush Badoni was batting on 78 off 85 balls when stumps were drawn for the day

Young captain Yash Dhull finally struck a chord as Delhi were bundled out for 223 for five as they bowled out Hyderabad for 355 in their Ranji Trophy Group B match on Wednesday.

Opening the innings after missing out on his team’s historic win over traditional rivals Mumbai in the previous round, Dhull scored 72 off 74 balls on the second day of the Elite Group game as Delhi scored more than four runs an over.

IPL star Ayush Badoni was batting on 78 off 85 balls when stumps were drawn for the day.

It is some sort of redemption for the 20-year-old Dhull, whose nightmare of an ‘ill-fated’ Ranji season took a turn for the worse when the Delhi skipper was ruled out of the tie against Mumbai last week.

Dhull’s first season, however, was successful as he scored 820 runs at an average of 74.54 including four centuries.

Thanks to consistency, Dhull was named captain of the Delhi Ranji team this season, which also included 100-Test veteran Ishant Sharma and IPL star Nitish Rana, less than a year after he took over the captaincy India Under-19 to A World Cup title win.

Starting the day at 247 for four, Hyderabad were helped by Rohit Rayudu’s brilliant innings of 153 runs. Rayudu was batting overnight scoring 90 runs.

For Delhi, fast bowlers Harshit Rana and Divij Mehra took three wickets each, while Pranshu Vijayran and Hrithik Shokeen took two wickets each.

Delhi trailed the hosts by 132 runs at stumps.
