Left-handed batsman Devdutt Padikkal scored a fine century to hand Karnataka a first-innings lead against Jharkhand in their Ranji Trophy Group C match on Wednesday.

Karnataka rode on an overnight score of 80 for 2, adding 220 before the spin duo of Shahbaz Nadeem (5/141) and Anukul Roy (3/66) bowled them out for 300 on the second day.

Apart from Padikkal, wicketkeeper BS Sharath, who scored 60 off 75 balls, was the other key contributor for Karnataka as the middle order struggled to put runs on the board.

By the end of the second day, Jharkhand has scored 85 runs for 2 wickets behind 136 runs.

Both their openers were back in the hut. While Kumar Deobrat scored 20 runs in 42 balls, Aryaman Sen was dismissed by medium pacer Vasuki Kaushik in the very first ball.
