The Jharkhand High Court on Friday directed the state government to submit a report on the recent violence in Ranchi over controversial remarks on Prophet Mohammad. The court also directed the state government to mention the steps taken to nab the culprits and the future course of action in the report.

On June 10, two people were killed and two dozen were seriously injured in violent protests in state capital Ranchi. At the same time, a bench of Chief Justice Ravi Ranjan and Justice SN Prasad was hearing a PIL on Ranchi violence on this matter.

The bench also sought to know how the stone pelting took place and the police also pelted stones. Media reports claimed that bullets were also fired at the police. The court said such acts cannot be tolerated and action will be taken against the miscreants.
