Reportedly, director Nitesh Tiwari has started shooting for Ramayana with the secondary actors.

Ranbir Kapoor’s upcoming movie Ramayana finally went on floors on Tuesday, April 2. If a recent report by India Today is to be believed, director Nitesh Tiwari performed a puja on sets early today following which he began shooting for the film with secondary actors. Ranbir, who will be playing the role of Lord Ram in the movie, will be joining the shoot in the coming days.

Who Is Playing What In Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana?

While Ranbir Kapoor will be playing the role of Ram in this movie, Sai Pallavi has been roped in for the role of Sita. Prior to Sai, Ranbir’s actress-wife, Alia Bhatt was in talks for the role of Sita but she backed out due to dates-related issues. KGF star Yash is also likely to play Ravana in the movie whereas Sunny Deol has reportedly been locked for the role of Hanuman. Bobby Deol and Vijay Sethupathi are also reportedly in talks for the roles of Kumbhakarna and Vibhashana respectively. Amitabh Bachchan will also be seen in the movie as King Dashrath.

How Is Ranbir Kapoor Preparing For Ramayana?

In February this year, it was reported that Ranbir Kapoor will undergo voice and diction training for the film. “Ranbir has a certain baritone and a way of speaking his lines. It is symbolic and if you have even closed your eyes, you can recognise a dialogue purely based on Ranbir’s voice. In ‘Ramayana’, Nitesh wants to make sure Ranbir sounds different from the characters he’s played in the past. Being a versatile actor, Ranbir is enjoying this process of trying something new,” a source cited by India Today claimed.

Later, the actor’s look test was also reportedly held. It was reported that the director does not want Ranbir to gain extra muscle for the role of Lord Ram. Instead, he wants Ranbir to be in his lean avatar.
