Ranbir Kapoor FINALLY breaks his silence on the failure of ‘Shamshera’: It didn’t work because… – Times of India

Actor Ranbir Kapoor is all set for the release of his film ‘Brahmastra’. He will be seen sharing screen space with his wife Alia Bhatt in the Ayan Mukerji directorial. The trio is leaving no stone unturned to promote their film. On Wednesday, Ranbir and Alia were seen promoting ‘Brahmastra’ in Delhi. During the media interaction, Ranbir spoke about the failure of ‘Shamshera‘ for the first time.

‘Shamshera’, which featured Ranbir along with Sanjay Dutt and Vaani Kapoor, failed to impress the movie buffs and get them to the theatres. Despite a huge canvas and solid cast, the film couldn’t engage the audience due to poor content.

During the recent media interaction, Ranbir was asked about the film’s failure and the dad-to-be said, “If Shamshera didn’t run at the box office it means the audience didn’t like the film. The film didn’t work because the content wasn’t good.”

Earlier, Sanjay Dutt too had broken his silence after the film flopped at the box office. He also spoke about how the film was criticized by people who didn’t even watch it. In his long note, he also said that he hopes that ‘Shamshera’ will find its tribe someday. A part of his note read, “Shamshera will find its tribe someday but until it does, I stand resolute with the film, the memories we created, the bond we shared, and the laughs we had. the hardships we went through. I thank the whole unit – cast and crew of the film who stayed with the film for four years. Through the pandemic, through my own personal rough times. Ranbir and I have forged a bond for life with this film. His craft and ability to depict emotionality on screen is par excellence. It pains to see how people we so eager to spew hatred on the work of one of the most hardworking and talented actors of our times. Art and our commitment for it transcends the hate coming our way. The love we feel for the film and its people goes beyond everything that’s being sold. Baaki kuch toh log kahenge, logon ka kaam hai kehna! #ShamsheralsOurs.”

Meanwhile, Ranbir’s ‘Brahmastra’ is also facing a backlash from netizens. Recently, Alia and Ranbir jetted off to Ujjain to visit Mahakaleshwar Temple ahead of the release. But they couldn’t attend the evening aarti due to a protest. A lot of protestors reached the temple and caused a ruckus due to Ranbir’s 2012 ‘beef’ remark. A video of the actor got circulated on social media where Ranbir spoke about eating beef. The aarti in Ujjain was only attended by Ayan.
