Alia Bhatt is now being trolled for her earlier remark on not wanting to show off by doing a destination wedding.
Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt are one of the most talked about couples in Bollywood. From their wedding to their relationship, no part of their lives if hidden from public scrutiny. As such, two old interviews have resurfaced on Reddit, putting Alia Bhatt on the chopping block again.
Neetu Kapoor, speaking to Film Companion, informed that the couple wanted to have a destination wedding in South Africa, but eventually ended up having a ceremony on their own terrace. “Ranbir and Alia had planned so much that ‘We’ll go to South Africa, we’ll do a recce,’ and eventually, where did they do it? At their home. Since two years we were planning we’ll go here, and we were seeing pictures. We were going absolutely nuts. But this was the best, and she looked so beautiful,” she said.
Whereas talking about a destination wedding, Alia Bhatt told Mid-Day, “I don’t like to show off, it’s actually very stressful for me. The idea of taking people and travelling to another location and setting up that place. That’s just too stressful for me. I literally wanted to get out of my room, go to the makeup room I get ready in every day and then go get married. It is exactly what happened. It was perfect… and I got to interact with everybody because there were only 40 people. That’s just exactly the kind of people we are. We are not like big kind of celebratory people.”
Now, netizens are dubbing Alia a “liar” for saying that she doesn’t like destination weddings. One person wrote, “It would be so refreshing for someone to just be unapologetic and say, ‘I wanted to do a big do, but we were pregnant and it was COVID, so we decided to do it at home and it actually turned out to be perfect.’” Another added, “This is such a non-issue… Why lie about it?”
One comment read, “She could have just said her wedding was eventually the one they wanted to go with.” One person called it a case of “sour grapes”. One user wrote, “She’s just salty she didn’t get to do a destination wedding because it happened in a hurry, and now acting like she never wanted it.” Another one said, “She could have simply said that initially, she did want a destination wedding but it didn’t work out.”
Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt tied the knot in April 2022 in their Mumbai home. It was in November of the same year when Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor welcomed a baby girl into the world.
