Ramnaresh Sarwan appointed selector of West Indies team

Former captain Ramnaresh Sarwan has been appointed as a selector in the West Indies men’s senior and youth selection panel till 2024.

Sarwan’s appointment was confirmed during the Cricket West Indies (CWI) board meeting on Thursday. He will serve as a member of both the panels till June 2024.

Former top-order batsman great Desmond Haynes joins the newly appointed West Indies men’s chief selector, and head coach Phil Simmons in the senior panel and former leg-spinner Robert Haynes in the panel to handle the youth selection.

“I would like to thank CWI and everyone involved for giving me the opportunity to serve West Indies Cricket again as a member of the selection panel. I am passionate about the game of cricket and West Indies cricket in particular and once asked to contribute, I did not hesitate,” Sarwan said.

“I look forward to working with my colleagues, the Most Hon. Dr. Desmond Haynes and Mr. Robert Haynes, and the two head coaches, as well as everyone involved in the development of the sport whom we love and respect very much,” They said.

During his two-and-a-half-year tenure, Sarwan will select squads for four major ICC events, including two T20 World Cups (2022 and 2024), one ODI World Cup (2023) and the World Test Championship final. 2023).
