Subhash Rajora proceeded against Verma for offenses under sections 499 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), 500 (defamation), 504 (intentional insult to any person), and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) before a metropolitan magistrate had demanded. On July 14 in suburban Bandra, the complainant’s lawyer DV Saroj said on Saturday.

He said the magistrate has adjourned the matter till October 11 to take cognizance of the complaint. The complaint said that Verma had made “derogatory” remarks through his Twitter handle which had hurt the respect of women on social media.
