Ram Charan says he was ready to dance on Natu Natu at the Oscars.
Ram Charan refuted the claim that he and Jr NTR had turned down the opportunity to perform at the Oscars.
RRR star Ram Charan finally opened up about not performing on Naatu Naatu at Oscars 2023. Fans were hoping that Ram and Jr NTR would recreate the magic of their blockbuster song on the 95th Academy Awards stage. But got disappointed. While Oscar producer Raj Kapoor claimed that Ram Charan and Jr. NTR turned down the offer to perform at the Oscars due to lack of rehearsals, Ram said that he was ready to perform.
“I was ready. I was 100 percent ready to take that call. But I don’t know what went wrong… Trop did a better job than us. We’ve done that for so many interviews. Now it’s time for us to rest.” It’s time,” he said while speaking at the India Today Conclave.
In several international interviews, Ram had expressed his desire to perform the song at the Oscars. He said that he is ready to perform the song if the stage allows. However, Kala Bhairav and Rahul Sipligunj were to perform the song with an international troupe led by Lauren Gottlieb.
Talking about not taking Ram and Taarak, Oscar’s Raj Kapoor said in the Academy interview, “Originally, the two lead singers were going to be the stars of the number with Rahul Sipligunj and Kala Bhairav being part of the performance. The show was very important in helping them secure work visas for their team to be able to come to the US to make.”
“In late February, we were informed that Ram Charan and NT Rama Rao would be attending the Junior Oscars, but they did not feel comfortable performing the number live on stage. The change was made because of his other professional commitments and limited time for rehearsals.”
Nevertheless, Naatu Naatu created history, becoming the first Telugu song to be performed at the Oscars and the first made by an Indian production to win Best Original Song.
