Rajya Sabha seats: Vinod Kumar in Telangana, other candidates | Hyderabad News – Times of India

Hyderabad: With the end of the budget session, TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao is likely to focus on party activities again. There are about a dozen leaders in the Rajya Sabha. Three vacancies in Rajya Sabha from the state are expected to be filled in the next two months.
While two Rajya Sabha members Captain V Laxmikant Rao and D Srinivas are retiring in the first week of June, the second seat fell vacant following the resignation of Banda Prakash, who was nominated to the Legislative Council in December last year.
TRS sources said that in view of the growing age (84 years) of Captain Laxmikant Rao, he cannot be re-nominated to the Upper House. Srinivas, who has been away from party activities for the last four years due to differences with the party leadership, is likely to officially quit the party any time soon.
According to sources, the candidates and names being considered by the party include former MPs and vice-president of the party. Telangana State Planning Board B Vinod Kumar. He tops the list that is expected to be sent to the Upper House. Vinod Kumar Was the party’s deputy leader in the Lok Sabha when he represented the Karimnagar constituency between 2014 and 2019. He lost to BJP’s Bandi Sanjay Kumar in the 2019 elections. Vinod Kumar, who is looking after the party’s activities in Delhi, frequently accompanies KCR during meetings with national level leaders like Sharad Pawar, Subramanian Swamy and others.
Other contenders include former minister Motkupalli Narasimhulu, former MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, former Waqf Board chairman MA Salim and former minister Mandva Venkateswara Rao.
Narasimhulu, who joined TRS a few months ago, is closely associated with KCR and is seen in every meeting on Dalit brothers with the CM. He is likely to get a chance as a Rajya Sabha MP. Former Khammam MP Srinivas Reddy was denied a TRS ticket in the 2019 elections. He had also tried for MLC ticket. Now, he is expected to be represented in the upper house as an MP.
