Rajya Sabha: Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar adjourned the Rajya Sabha till March 13 amid uproar and sloganeering by opposition MPs on the Adani issue. As per a report in ANI, the Speaker adjourned the Rajya Sabha till 11 am on March 13. The second part of the budget session will begin on March 13, 2023.

Dhankhar said, ‘Delayed obstruction is being created and this is not the way to run the House. We’ve already wasted enough time. If there is such disruption in the House, then I will be forced to work according to the expectations of the people.
Opposition parties raised slogans
Earlier during the proceedings today, opposition parties raised slogans demanding the cancellation or suspension of Congress MP Rajni Patil and setting up of a JPC to probe the allegations against the Adani group. Soon after the listed papers were laid on the Table of the House, members of the opposition party insisted that the Speaker allow Leader of the Opposition and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge to speak in the House.
When Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar allowed Kharge to speak, several members of the ruling party started raising slogans. However, the remarks made by Kharge were expunged by the Speaker from the House. Meanwhile, MPs from opposition parties also raised slogans demanding revocation of Patil’s suspension and many of them came to the Well of the House. Patil was suspended from the House for the rest of the budget session for airing an unauthorized video of the proceedings of the House.
As the sloganeering continued, Union Minister and Leader of the House Piyush Goyal suggested that the Speaker adjourn the House briefly and speak to the protesting members. The Speaker adjourned the proceedings till 11:50 a.m. today. Now, the Rajya Sabha has been adjourned till March 13, 2023.
