Rajinikanth said ‘no’ to politics, Rajini Makkal Mandra dissolved

Superstar Rajinikanth on Monday announced that he has no plans to enter politics in future and disbanded his outfit Rajini Makkal Mandram. The announcement came after Rajinikanth’s meeting with RMM members.

“I have no plans to join politics in future,” the 70-year-old actor said after meeting RMM office-bearers.

Announcing the decision to dissolve RMM, the Tamil actor said the organization would be revamped as a fan welfare association.

“I thought of starting a political party and joining politics. But the time was such that it was not possible. I have no intention to join politics in future, so I inform you Rajni Makkal Work as a fan charity forum for the benefit of the people, Mandaram Rajinikanth said in a statement.

Bhanga Rajini Makkal Mandaram will be adapted into “Rajinikanth Raseegar Narpani Mandaram” or Rajinikanth fan welfare platform.

Ahead of the meeting, Rajinikanth had said that he would discuss his political entry with the members of his political party.

On 3 December 2020, the actor had said that he would launch his party in January 2021, ahead of the assembly elections. However, in the last week of December last year, he took a U-turn and announced that he would not join politics.

Since then, several office-bearers, including the DMK, had joined political parties.
