Superstar Rajinikanth suddenly met Siruthai Siva, the director of his previous release Annaatthe, and presented him with a gold chain. Rajinikanth is said to have spent over three hours at the director’s house in Chennai’s Anna Nagar. Shiva and his family were shocked and shaken by the actor’s gesture.
After releasing during Diwali, November 4, Annaatthe did good business over the weekend. The film is still running in theatres, even after its release. Netflix Film analysts said that on November 25, Rajinikanth liked the way director Siva scripted the film and went to meet him and presented him a gold chain.
Several Twitter users said that the film is in the fifth week of its theatrical release and some shows are still running housefull.
Annathe has reportedly collected around Rs 240 crore worldwide. The film received mixed reviews from film critics, however.
Annaatthe is set in a village, which depicts the story of a brother-sister duo. While Rajinikanth is playing the role of brother, Keerthy Suresh is playing the role of his younger sister. Rajni is paired opposite Nayantara, while Meera and Khushboo play his friend.
The story of the film mainly revolves around Rajinikanth’s character Kalaiyan, a village president, who leads a simple life and is devoted to the people and family of his village. He also shares an unbreakable bond with his sister. Kalaiya’s peaceful existence is disrupted when a villain enters her life.
Written and directed by Siva, the film has songs composed by popular composer D Imman. Annaatthe is produced by Kalanidhi Maran under the banner of Sun Pictures. The film is now available for streaming on Sun NXT and Netflix.
