Filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj is currently busy with Thalapathy Vijay’s much-awaited film Leo. Now, another update regarding the director’s next big project has created a stir in the South film industry. Lokesh Kanagaraj is all set to collaborate with veteran actor Rajinikanth for his next big project Thalaivar 171. The film has already created buzz in the industry ever since the news about the collaboration of two big names of the industry broke a few weeks back.

According to reports, recently the photoshoot for Thalaivar 171 was completed in a studio in Chennai. Rajinikanth and Lokesh reportedly took part in it, which included a test shoot for the launch. Though there is no official confirmation about it, fans of both the celebrities are overjoyed.

It is being speculated that the film will begin as soon as Rajinikanth wraps up Thalaivar 170 directed by TJ Gnanavel. Sun Pictures is claimed to have acquired the rights of the project.

Several production houses including Kamal Haasan’s Raj Kamal Films International, Sun Pictures, Seven Screen Studios and Hombale Films are said to be bidding for the mega-project. As per reports, Sun Pictures has bagged a deal to bankroll the project.

Meanwhile, Nelson Dilipkumar’s directorial debut, Jailer, is all set to hit the theaters on August 10. Rajinikanth is in the lead role in the film. The actor has also started filming for his daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth’s Laal Salaam, in which he plays a pivotal role alongside Jeevith, Vikrant and Vishnu Vishal.

Lokesh, on the other hand, is already committed to Karthi’s Kaithi 2, Kamal Haasan’s Vikram 3 and a few Telugu and Hindi projects. It remains to be seen whether one of these projects will go on floors before Thalaivar 171.

Talking about Leo, the hype about Thalapathy Vijay’s next film on social media is not taking its name. After a tough schedule in Kashmir in March, the shoot is currently underway in Chennai. It is now confirmed that leading Malayalam actress Shanthi Mayadevi has joined the cast of the film. The Seven Screen Studios Bankroll project is expected to release in theaters in October.
