Rajasthan’s gang reckoning | Gehlot cracks down on crime

As Rajasthan records a rise in extortion, shootouts and other gang-related cases, the state police finally crack down on organized crime networks and history-sheeters, both on the ground and online

CChief Minister Ashok Gehlot seems to have taken a lesson from his Uttar Pradesh counterpart Yogi Adityanath’s book in his address at the Rajasthan Police Foundation Day event in Jaipur on April 16. He declared, “Our police will not bow down.” “Gangsters and criminals must either surrender or they will perish.” On the same day, the reward money on fugitives was increased after a decade, with the state’s top police officer getting powers to announce a reward of Rs 1 lakh to Rs 5 lakh.
