Rajasthan: School Rusticates Gang-Rape Survivor

A shameless act of the Ajmer school in Rajasthan came to light recently as a minor gangrape victim student was stopped from attending classes claiming that the environment will be spoiled.

The minor student was gang raped in the month of October last year.

As per the information, after the incident, when the student went to school to continue her studies, the administration sent her back home stating that the environment of the class will be spoiled if she will continue.

Additionally, the school even rusticated her from the school and also did not allow her to appear for the class 12 board examination.

Upon reaching the Child Welfare Committee, the student revealed the harrowing ordeal she had endured. The revelation unfolded after the victim penned a letter detailing the incident to the Child Welfare Committee. The gang rape incident occurred in October last year, prompting the registration of a case at the local police station.

Anjali Sharma, Chairperson of the Child Welfare Committee, shed light on the matter, recounting how upon returning to school for regular studies post-incident, the teachers barred her from attending classes. The school authorities advised her against attending school, citing potential disruption to the atmosphere, suggesting she wait until the examination period.

Four months later, as the board exams approached, the victim was denied her admit card by the school administration. Recognizing the gravity of the situation, Chairperson Anjali Sharma promptly intervened, urging the District Education Officer to take stringent action against the school authorities. A copy of the letter was also forwarded to the District Collector to safeguard the victim’s academic year.

Presently, as she endeavors to participate in the supplementary board exams, the Child Welfare Committee is collaborating with the District Legal Services Authority to provide legal aid to the victim. Despite the conclusion of the board exams, concerted efforts are being made by the Child Welfare Committee to facilitate the victim’s participation in the supplementary examinations.
