Raising the issue in public interest, the petitioner submitted that the decision to suspend the internet leads to disruption of various activities.
Allowing the petition, a division bench of Chief Justice Akil Qureshi and Justice Sandeep Mehta sought the government’s response to list the matter for next hearing on November 23, while seeking time from the AAG to take directions from the state government.
Petitioner Mahipal Singh, in his plea, said that the state government’s decision to suspend mobile internet services at a time when examinations and entrance examinations for government posts are being conducted resulted in huge disruption in various services like banking and education. Is. Number of students taking online classes and coaching may be deprived of their valuable time and miss their important lecture or session.
He said internet suspension was resorted to during the recent REET exam Patwari Examination and that two without prior or proper information in some districts to the public describing the decision as completely arbitrary.
