Rajasthan government suspends Vice Chancellor of Mohanlal Sukhadia University for submitting false report on proposed university

Raj Bhavan sources said on Friday that Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Mishra has suspended the vice-chancellor of Mohanlal Sukhadia University, Amrika Singh, on the recommendation of the state government.

He said the suspension order was issued on Thursday.

The Governor is the Chancellor of all the state universities.

Singh was the head of the committee that submitted a false report on the infrastructure of a private university proposed to be set up by the Gurukul Shikshan Sansthan in Sikar.

The infrastructure details given by the committee to set up the university were included in a bill tabled in the Rajasthan Assembly in February.

The bill was to be passed on March 22. However, on the same day, Deputy Leader of Opposition Rajendra Rathore brought to the notice of the Speaker that the infrastructure mentioned in the Bill exists only on paper.

The speaker got the matter investigated by the district collector of Sikar. The state government withdrew the bill on March 22 after Rathore’s allegations were found to be true.

Later, the state government ordered the Jaipur Divisional Commissioner to investigate the matter.

Based on the inquiry report, the Joint Secretary of the Education Department lodged a complaint against Singh and three members of the committee at the Ashok Nagar police station here in April.
