Raj Kundra has been granted bail by a Mumbai court two months after his arrest in an alleged porn case.
Raj Kundra is currently lodged in Central Mumbai’s Arthur Road Jail in judicial custody.

Raj Kundra, Husband Bollywood actor Shilpa ShettyA magisterial court in Mumbai on Monday granted him bail, two months after he was arrested for making and distributing porn films. Chief Metropolitan Magistrate SB Bhajipale accepted Kundra’s bail application on a surety of Rs 50,000. The 46-year-old businessman is currently lodged in central Mumbai’s Arthur Road Jail in judicial custody and is expected to come out of jail today.
Kundra’s aide and co-accused Ryan Thorpe, who was arrested along with him on July 19, was also granted bail by the court for allegedly making obscene films and publishing them through certain apps. Kundra was arrested by the Crime Branch of the Mumbai Police after registering a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, the Information Technology Act and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.
Days after the police filed a supplementary charge sheet in the case, Kundra last Saturday filed a bail application before the Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court. The businessman claimed in the petition that he was being made a “scapegoat” for reasons best known to investigators. There is not a single allegation in the entire supplementary charge sheet against Kundra, his lawyer Prashant Patil submitted before the court.
Meanwhile, the Mumbai Police claimed in the supplementary chargesheet that Kundra was the “key facilitator” in the pornographic material case and that he, along with other accused, exploited women struggling in the film industry by filming them in an obscene manner. Around 1,500-page chargesheet was filed by the Crime Branch against Kundra and his associate Ryan Thorpe in the Magistrates Court.
The chargesheet contains the statements of 43 witnesses, including Shilpa Shetty, who has been listed as a witness. The police have also included a statement of Shilpa Shetty in the chargesheet that she was not aware of her husband’s activities as she was busy with her work.
