Chennai Rain Latest Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that after a few days of dry weather, Chennai and its adjoining districts are likely to receive rain for the next two days.

Heavy rains in Tiruchirappalli district and adjoining areas for the past few days have led to water logging and flooding in the city. Severe water logging has affected normal life.

Anticipating heavy to very heavy rains, the Meteorological Department has issued an ‘Orange’ alert in the district. A red alert indicates heavy to very heavy rain of more than 20 cm in 24 hours, while an orange alert indicates very heavy to very heavy rainfall of 6 cm to 20 cm. Yellow alert means heavy rain between 6 to 11 cms.

Chennai and adjoining districts are receiving rain due to continuous weather activity triggered by the entry of strong winds. Meteorologists said that the city may not receive heavy rains like in November, but there is a possibility of continuous rain for the next few days.

IMD’s regional center has predicted light rain and partly cloudy sky in the next 48 hours.

Due to the northerly winds in these parts of the state, most interior areas of South Tamil Nadu have been receiving rain for the last two days.

The IMD also predicted that there would be no heavy rains in Chennai and other areas of the state and would return to Purvai on Wednesday.
