Rain in Delhi: 40 passengers rescued safely from bus stuck in waterlogged

The Delhi Fire Service on Saturday rescued 40 passengers of a private bus that got stuck in a waterlogged underpass here after heavy rain on Saturday morning. Women and children were also among the passengers. Officials said the bus was on its way to Mathura and got stuck on the underpass of Palam flyover.

He said that the DFS received a call at 11.30 am seeking assistance following which two fire tenders were pressed into service. Delhi Fire Services Director Atul Garg said, “A bus carrying passengers got stuck on an underpass of Palam flyover due to waterlogging. Two fire tenders reached the spot and all the passengers were rescued safely.”

Heavy rains lashed the national capital on Saturday morning, submerging many parts of the city. According to civic agencies, many areas of the city including Moti Bagh, RK Puram, Madhu Vihar, Hari Nagar, Rohtak Road, Badarpur, Som Vihar, Ring Road near IP Station, Vikas Marg, Sangam Vihar, Mehrauli-Badarpur Road, Pul Prahladpur Waterlogging was observed at Underpass, Munirka, Rajpur Khurd, Nangloi and Kirari.

People posted pictures and videos of waterlogging on the roads on social media. The Delhi Traffic Police also posted tweets informing people about the areas where they fear waterlogging.
