Railways has denied the news running on social media and selected well-known media web portals, in which there is talk of changes in the rules related to carrying luggage during the journey. It has been clarified by the Railways that the rules which are already made and no new changes have been made in them so far. However, the Railways has encouraged passengers to book luggage under the rules and has told that for not doing so, they may have to pay a fine of up to six times under the rules. This rule is 10 years old. It has been told by the Railways that the purpose of carrying luggage of the prescribed weight during the journey is to avoid inconvenience to the passengers on the train and at the station.

According to railway officials, 40 kg of luggage can be carried in sleeper class, 50 in third / second AC and 70 kg in first AC, which is being viral on social media as a change in railway rules, while this provision is old.
