Indian Railways goods train reached Manipur for the first time after 75 years of independence. The goods train reached Rani Gaidinliu station in Manipur on 27 January. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday – this will increase the trade and connectivity of the state as goods will reach all parts of the country from there.

This historic video was shared by Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on his social media account. It can be seen in the video that the locals welcomed the train. During this, women dressed in traditional clothes were seen performing cultural dance at the station.

Sharing the video, CM Biren Singh wrote – Historic day for Manipur and the entire North East. After 75 years of India’s independence, the first goods train reached Rani Gaidinliu Railway Station in Tamenglong, Manipur. The Narendra Modi government is committed to enhancing infrastructure, connectivity and economic prosperity in the North-East region.

The first passenger train arrived in Manipur in 2016

In 2016 in Shillong, PM Modi had flagged off three new trains for Mizoram, Manipur and Kamakhya in Assam. This was the first broad gauge passenger train for Manipur. Which connected Jiribam of Manipur with Silchar. All India Radio News tweeted about this on 27 May 2016.
