Railway News: Train travel will be more expensive now, know the new additional charges

New Delhi: If you travel by train, your travel is expected to cost you a bit more. According to a report in Times of India, passengers will have to pay an additional fee of Rs 10 to Rs 50 for boarding trains from stations that have been redeveloped or will be redeveloped soon. Similar charges will be added for de-boarding of trains at stations which have been revamped or will be revised soon. Passengers will not have to pay this additional fee separately. The fee will automatically be added to the ticket fare at the time of booking the ticket.

Fees will be added in five categories

Additional charges for rail passengers will be added in five categories. The highest will be charged in AC first class and the latter will be charged less for AC-2, AC-3 and sleeper classes. The lowest fee will be charged from the passengers traveling in the general class.

The Railway Ministry will soon add this fee to the ticket fare. The additional fee will increase the revenue of private companies which will be developing stations. Following this move, the ministry hopes that more private companies will be encouraged to participate in the development of stations and passengers will get the benefit of new facilities at such stations.

Additional charges at redeveloped station

Sources said that the Railways has sent a proposal in this regard to the cabinet. However, a decision has been taken that the national transporter will automatically notify the charges and come out with a detailed policy. However, the additional charges will now be levied only at those stations which have been redeveloped.
