Raigad: At least five people have died in landslides in the district MaharashtraDue to incessant rains in the last 24 hours in Raigad district, there has been destruction in this area.
Raigad District Collector Nidhi Choudhary said on Friday, “Five people died due to landslides and floods in Raigad district.”
He had earlier told that 15 people have been rescued from the landslide. At least 30 people are still trapped inside, he had said earlier.
Four landslides have been reported in Raigad due to incessant rains, blocking roads.

Meanwhile, Raigad’s Guardian Minister Aditi Tatkare told that the Maharashtra government has sought help from the central government and the army to rescue the people trapped in Mahad.
“The NDRF team is finding it difficult to reach the affected villages as the roads have been submerged in water,” the official said.
Earlier on Thursday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray held an emergency meeting to take stock of the flood situation in Ratnagiri and Raigad districts of the state due to torrential rains in the last 24 hours.
Thackeray directed the Chief Minister’s Office to alert the disaster management units and departments concerned and start rescue operations immediately.
Two teams of NDRF were sent to Khed and Chiplun areas of Ratnagiri to deal with the severe conditions due to high tide and heavy rains. Two more teams have been sent from Pune Headquarters to Khed in Ratnagiri and Mahad in Raigad for a rescue operation each.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red and orange alerts for many areas of the state, where heavy rains are likely in the next three days.
