Elections are due in Madhya Pradesh by the end of next year and the Congress is trying to wrest power from the BJP in the state.

Senior Congress leader and former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Kamal Nath said this on Friday Rahul Gandhi Will be the prime ministerial candidate of the opposition in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

In an email interview with PTI, Nath lauded Gandhi for leading the Congress’ nationwide Bharat Jodo Yatra, saying he was doing politics not for power but for the common people of the country.

He said, “As far as the 2024 Lok Sabha elections are concerned, Rahul Gandhi will not only be the face of the opposition but will also be its prime ministerial candidate.”

Nath also said that no one in the history of the world has done such a long walk. The Congress leader said that apart from the Gandhi family, no other family has made so many sacrifices for the country.

Rahul Gandhi does politics not for power but for the people of the country, which makes anyone sit in power.

The Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh is the only leader who has come forward in favor of Rahul Gandhi’s candidature for the 2024 elections.

The 76-year-old Congress chief from Madhya Pradesh also said there was no place for “traitors” in the party after betraying the organisation.

Asked if there is any possibility of Jyotiraditya Scindia returning to the party in future, Nath said, “I will not comment on any individual, but for those ‘traitors’ who betrayed the party and broke the trust of its workers.” , there is no place.” organization for them.

Nath said the BJP can change any chief minister but it will not make any difference as the people have made up their mind to elect the Congress in Madhya Pradesh.

He also said that an organizational change initiative will be taken in the state before the assembly elections.
