Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Thursday slammed the government for not being able to speak in Parliament, saying if Indian democracy was functioning, he would have been allowed to speak. Addressing a presser, the former Congress president once again questioned the government on the Adani controversy and the relationship between PM Modi and the businessman.

However, when Rahul Gandhi was addressing the presser, Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh justified him on one of his statements.

According to a tweet shared by BJP leader Shahzad Poonawalla, senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh was seen on camera correcting Rahul Gandhi on one of his statements, “Unfortunately I am a Member of Parliament (MP) and I hope I will be allowed to speak.” in Parliament.”

Correcting the mistake made by Rahul Gandhi, Jairam Ramesh told the Wayanad MP that “…unfortunately I am a Member of Parliament…they can make fun of it by saying it is unfortunate for you”.

Soon after, Rahul Gandhi corrected his statement and said, “I want to make it clear… Unfortunately for you, I am a Member of Parliament and as alleged in Parliament…”

BJP leader Sambit Patra also shared the video taking a jibe at Rahul Gandhi and said, ‘After all, how much and for how long will you teach?’

Earlier during the day, Gandhi came to Parliament House after returning from abroad and met Speaker Om Birla to request him to allow her to speak in the Lok Sabha.

He said, ‘Therefore, if Indian democracy was functioning, I would have been able to have my say in Parliament. So, what you are actually seeing is the test of Indian democracy.

“After four BJP leaders make allegations about an MP, is that MP being given the same space as those four ministers or is he being asked to keep quiet? In front of this country The real question is now,” the former Congress chief said.

Gandhi said he told the Lok Sabha Speaker that BJP people have leveled allegations against him and it is his democratic right to speak as a parliamentarian.

He said Birla was “non-committal” on this and just smiled. He also expressed hope that he would be allowed to speak in Parliament tomorrow, despite the uncertainty.

Claiming that the entire controversy (creation) was a distraction, Gandhi alleged that the government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi were “scared” over the Adani issue and that is why they had “prepared this whole farce” to divert attention.

The former Congress president also did not respond to any questions from the media and said that he would first like to lay his statement on the floor of the house and then he would be happy to have a discussion.

He said, “I went to Parliament this morning with a view to table whatever I have said or what I feel. Four ministers have made allegations against me in the Parliament House, it is my right to speak.” be given.” on the floor of the House,” the former Congress chief said.
