Congress leader Rahul Gandhi On Tuesday alleged that MGNREGA workers in some states are not even getting their wages and asked the government what kind of “achche din” (good days) these are. He said that the rights of workers are being denied in the time of pandemic, when they should be given financial assistance instead. “MNREGA workers in many states are not getting their wages. When the government should have given them additional financial assistance during the pandemic, the money which is the right of the workers is also being denied.” There is a world beyond false rhetoric where people in some households are unable to even run their own household – what kind of ‘acche din’ are these,” he asked.

His reference was to the “achche din” (good days) promise made by the BJP to the people ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. In another tweet, he posted a question with a Hindi couplet to attack the Modi government. “Fill in the blanks: Rafale of ‘friends’, tax collection – expensive fuel, indiscriminate sale of PSU-PSBs, jail if you question. Modi government is….,” he asked in Hindi.
