Rahul Dravid’s Straightforward Remark On Shardul Thakur

With Team India cricketer Shardul Thakur  among others voicing their opinion on how busy and tiring the domestic cricket schedule can be for players, head coach Rahul Dravid supported the notion that the schedule needs to be taken into consideration for better workload management in the future.

Shardul expressed the need for players to have additional rest periods between matches to prevent injuries, a sentiment shared by Sai Kishore. After India’s victory over England in the fifth Test match in Dharamsala, Dravid addressed these concerns, suggesting that the BCCI should seek input from players who are experiencing the physical demands of the game. He also encouraged the BCCI to reevaluate the scheduling of other tournaments such as the Duleep Trophy and Deodhar Trophy to alleviate pressure on cricketers.

“I’ve heard the same as well. I saw some of the comments Shardul, I think, made. And in fact some of the boys who’ve come into the team as well, also comment about how tough the domestic schedule is, especially in a country like India with the amount of travel involved. So yeah, we need to hear the players. That’s a very important thing in a lot of these things,” Dravid said.

With the Ranji Trophy taking place alongside Team India’s matches, many players including the likes Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer have been criticised for not taking part in domestic cricket for their respective teams despite of being available for selection.
