Ravi Shastri’s tenure as India’s head coach ends with 2021 t20 world cup The team failed to qualify for the semi-finals after two heart-wrenching defeats at the hands of Pakistan and New Zealand in the group stage. Legendary batsman Rahul Dravid has been appointed as the new head coach of the Indian cricket team and his first assignment will be against New Zealand in the home series.
Shastri achieved great success during his tenure as head coach in bilateral series of all three formats at home and away. However, India failed to win any ICC trophy despite performing very well on the bilateral tours.

Shastri feels that Dravid does not need any advice from him as he has a lot of experience in the coaching department with his past experiences as India A team, U-19 team and NCA chief.
“A man of his stature, he has been very handsome and has coached a lot with the India A team and the NCA. For that, it’s an automatic switch. Just the right man to replace me. I wish him all the best and I don’t think he needs any advice, he is very experienced for it. He has a mind of his own and will get the job done. They have inherited a great cricket team,” Shastri said on India Today.
Shastri and Dravid have contrasting styles of play, though the former coach feels that the basics of coaching are still the same. Shastri claims that Dravid can do a better job than him.
“The basics are still the same. The team is the same. He’ll probably do as well or even better than me.”

The former cricketer also talked about the heights of Indian cricket during his tenure as the head coach and described back-to-back series wins against Australia as unimaginable.
“High, it must be Australia, just can’t take it away. One win after another in Australia after almost 70 years is something that could not have been imagined. Makes extremely special. And definitely , leading the series in England,” he said.
