Rachel Haynes in doubt for second ODI after elbow injury

In-form Australia opener Rachael Haynes on Thursday became doubtful about playing the second women’s one-day international against India after she injured her right elbow during a training session. The match is to be held on Friday.

Haynes, who had played an unbeaten 93 for the home team as India thrashed India by nine wickets in the first match of the series, was taken for the scan. According to cricket.com.au, Haynes “doubled down in pain, then removed his gloves and jumped out of the net and into the team changeroom, before leaving the field shortly afterwards.”

Australia team physio Kate Birworth said, “Rach suffered a right elbow injury while batting today and got a scan.” Chain.

If Haynes is ruled out of the next match, the hosts may ask Beth Mooney to open with Alyssa Healy, who is enjoying good form.

The Australian women’s cricket team is going through an incredible run winning 25 games in a row and it will be a tough task for the struggling Indians to break through.
