The Lalu-Rabri family has got a new member at the wedding of Tejashwi Yadav, younger son to their longtime friend Rachel Godinho. Keeping silent about Milan from the beginning, the wedding on December 9 in Delhi was a special and low-key affair.
The RJD leader, who is the youngest opposition leader in any state assembly, is known to be Lalu’s political successor. But no one knew about her relationship with Godinho until she married, while there are reports that there was resistance due to the inter-religious nature of their relationship.
The wedding was revealed when Tejashwi’s sister Rohini Acharya posted some pictures from the ceremony on her Instagram. While the couple had close family and friends at the wedding, the president of the Samajwadi Party Akhilesh Yadav And RJD MP Misa Bharti was also present. Tejashwi’s Christian bride will reportedly be known as Rajshree or Rajeshwari, but it is not clear whether she will convert to Hinduism.
On Saturday, Tejashwi’s uncle Sadhu Yadav reprimanded his nephew for inter-caste marriage. Leaving no stone unturned in his attack, the former Gopalganj MP said, “He has tarnished the image of Lalu Prasad’s family by marrying a girl from another community. He does not deserve to be called the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly.”
He said, ‘He is doing arbitrariness in the family and the party. He wants to rule over us. We cannot allow him to do so. We will boycott him. We will teach him a lesson,” said the sadhu, who was not invited to the ceremony.
Who is Rachel Godinho?
Rachel Godinho belongs to the Christian community living in Rewari district of Haryana. However, Godinho’s family owns a house in South Delhi’s New Friends Colony. She is the daughter of a teacher, who has retired as principal from a city school.
Godinho and Tejashwi have known each other since they were fellow students at Delhi Public School, RK Puram. According to media reports, both are dating for the last six to seven years.
Even now, little information is available about Rachel’s family and educational background, but she has worked in the civil aviation industry.
Tejashwi wanted to keep the ceremony private for fear of the Omicron version missing some political stalwarts.
