The QS World University Rankings is an annual publication of university rankings that includes global overall and subject rankings. Earlier, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bengaluru achieved its highest rank in 2016 with 147th ranking.

According to an official statement, IIT Bombay has been ranked 1st in India in the QS World University Rankings and has moved up significantly from 177th rank last year to 149th rank this year with an overall score of 51.7 out of 100. For the first time since its participation, IIT Bombay has been ranked in the top 150 in the QS rankings. Overall, the institute improved its 2023 performance by 23 places.

For the first time this year, 45 Indian institutions have found place in the QS World University Rankings. The QS ranking had nine parameters, of which employer reputation indicated the strongest for IIT Bombay with a global rank of 69, the statement said.

The Institute scores 81.9 in Employer Reputation, 73.1 in Citations per Faculty, 55.5 in Academic Reputation, 47.4 in Employability Outcomes, 54.9 in Sustainability, 18.9 in Faculty-Student Ratio, 4.7 in International Faculty, 8.5 in International Research Network.
