Put officials’ details online or face action, told e-commerce companies – Times of India

New Delhi: The Consumer Affairs Ministry has warned e-commerce companies of action if they do not put the details and contact numbers of their officials on their portals/platforms for redressal of consumer complaints.
In a recent circular, the ministry said that the Center consumer Protection Rights (CCPA) has come to know that some e-commerce entities are not displaying the details of sellers as mandated under the Protection of Consumers (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020. Forum.
“Any person found in contravention of the rules shall be liable to face action under the Act if, after investigation, the Central Authority has reason to believe that the practices are deemed to be unfair to the interest of consumers,” the circular said. Therefore, industry associations are requested to give wide publicity to the provisions of the said rules and influence their members to ensure compliance with the rules so as to ensure that the use of e-commerce Adequate redressal mechanism is accessible to consumers while purchasing goods or services.
