Hyderabad: After winning big at the New York Indian Film Festival and Los Angeles Film Awards, starring in ‘Birha – The Journey Back Home’ Rajit Kapur, Manav Vij, Sahil Mehta and Seema Kaushal is now selected in The Ottawa Indian Film Festival Award. With the recent selection the film has now been a part of 24 film festivals.

‘Birha – The Journey Back Home’ is a Punjabi short-film, which narrates the heartwarming story of a family that breaks apart due to the unreasonable ambitions of a young child. Set against the backdrop of Punjab, the film highlights the plight of a family that perishes due to the greed of the West, a common problem in the state.

Produced by Ghalib Dutta and Navneet Singh Gujral and directed by Puneet Prakash, the film won the ‘Best Film’ award. Amsterdam International Film Festival, Hollywood shorts fest, los angeles Film Awards (LAFA), New York Indian Film Festival, Calcutta International Cult Film Festival, and Gangtok International Film Festival. The Ottawa Indian Film Festival Awards are starting from 13th June and will continue till 17th June.

Rajit Kapoor further added, “’Birha – The Journey Back Home’ is a very personal and emotional film on many levels. I got so immersed in the character that I felt some mysterious force guiding me. I had very good relations with Puneet and Ghalib. We were all on the same page. This is my first Punjabi film and I am glad to represent my heritage.

Director Punit Prakash said, “Birha has been made with a lot of heart. Children are increasingly forgetting family values ​​and the sacrifices parents make to fulfill their dreams. The film is a story of families that We are really proud of the appreciation our film is getting.
