Punjab government lifts all covid restrictions ahead of oath ceremony of elected CM Bhagwant Mann

new Delhi: All the COVID restrictions imposed in the state of Punjab ahead of the oath ceremony of Punjab CM-nominee Bhagwant Mann have been lifted with immediate effect, reported ANI. However, people are expected to follow the proper norms of COVID.

There is no restriction on gathering of people, opening of restaurants, marriage etc.

The preparations for the swearing-in ceremony of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader are in full swing with the participation of all officials from the Chief Secretary to the Director General of Police. About 100 acres of area is being used for the celebrations on March 16 at Khatkar Kalan in Shaheed Bhagat Singh (SBS) Nagar district.

SBS Nagar Deputy Commissioner Special Sarangal said that a “micro level” plan has been made for basic amenities like drinking water, sanitation, medical emergency services etc., told ANI. He also mentioned that around 8000 to 10000 police personnel would be deployed at the spot and more could be provided if needed.

Speaking to ANI, A Venu Prasad, Additional Chief Secretary, Government of Punjab, said that four-five lakh people are expected to attend the event.

“Seats for one lakh people have been arranged. More seats are being installed. The venue will be of 50 acres in size of 100 acres for the main event and 50 acres for parking,” he said. He also said that travel advisory for the day would be issued to the general public in view of the celebrations.
