Punjab Elections On Agenda? Rahul Gandhi Meets Poll Strategist Prashant Kishor

New Delhi: With the Punjab Assembly elections approaching, election strategist Prashant Kishor met Congress leader Rahul Gandhi at his residence in the national capital on Tuesday.

According to sources, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and AICC general secretary KC Venugopal were also present during the meeting.

Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had met Kishor at Delhi’s Kapurthala House last week. The meeting took place amid a tussle between Punjab Chief Minister and Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu.

Kishor had earlier met Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) supremo Sharad Pawar thrice last month. The election strategist’s meetings with Pawar had fueled speculation that the opposition parties would come together to form a third front against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in 2024.

Kishor had earlier played a key role in the return of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) to power in West Bengal. He was instrumental in the TMC’s thumping victory, which won 213 seats in the West Bengal Assembly elections. The BJP was able to get only 77 seats in West Bengal on the basis of the increasing popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The electoral victory in West Bengal has come as a shot in the arm for the opposition, giving it the confidence to take on the BJP in the next general elections.

Kishor also played a key role in the victory of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) alliance in Tamil Nadu.
