Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and all 117 candidates of the party in Punjab will visit the Golden Temple on Thursday and sit for langar. Later in the day, Gandhi will address a virtual rally of the party from Mithapur in Jalandhar. The Congress has so far announced 86 candidates and is expected to announce other names soon.
According to the party, the former Congress president will reach Amritsar from Delhi on Thursday morning. After reaching Amritsar, he will offer prayers at the Golden Temple and will attend langar along with 117 party candidates.
He will also pay obeisance at Durgiana temple and Lord Valmiki pilgrimage site. In the afternoon, Rahul will reach Jalandhar, 100 km from Amritsar.
Later in the day at Mithapur in Jalandhar, Rahul Gandhi will address the “Punjab Fateh” virtual rally before returning to Delhi in the evening. The Election Commission on Saturday extended the ban on physical rallies and road shows till January 31.
Punjab will go to polls on February 20 and Rahul Gandhi’s visit is expected to give a boost to the party’s election campaign.
