sidhu moose wala murder caseThe Punjab government on Sunday constituted a 3-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to ensure an effective and speedy investigation into the murder of Shubhdeep Singh alias Sidhu Moose Wala.
The SIT members include SP Probe Mansa Dharamveer Singh, DSP Investigation Bathinda Vishwajit Singh and in-charge CIA Mansa Prithvipal Singh.
Sidhu Moose Wala, who came out of the house along with two people Gurvinder Singh (neighbor) and Gurpreet Singh (cousin) at around 4.30 pm, was shot dead by some unidentified persons. Shubhdeep Singh was driving his Mahindra Thar.
DGP VK Bhavara said in a press release that when Sidhu reached Moose Wala village at Jawahar, he was chased by a white Corolla and stopped by two cars including a white Bolero and a dark brown Scorpio from the front.
“There was heavy firing on Sidhu Moosewala and his friends from the front in which all of them were shot,” he said, adding that the police team immediately reached the spot and all three were taken to Civil Hospital Mansa where Sidhu Moosewala was declared brought dead. Announcing the formation of a special investigation team to probe the murder, the DGP said Moosewala had not taken two Punjab Police commandos with him, who were still provided for his security.
The SSP said that when Moosewala and his accomplices reached Jawahar’s village in Mansa, they were stopped by two vehicles and the occupants of these vehicles fired heavily at Moosewala.
“Moose Wala was immediately rushed to the civil hospital where he was declared brought dead. Two others were stable,” the SSP said.
He said that the police have found 9 mm weapon shells, in which 315 bore weapons are likely to be used.
When asked about the use of AK-47 rifle in the incident, the SSP said that it is possible, but all the facts will come out during the investigation.
The SSP said that the incident could be a result of mutual enmity.
He said the name of Moosewala’s manager had cropped up in the murder case of young Akali leader Vicky Middukheda last year.
The SSP said there was enmity between Lawrence Bishnoi and Lucky Patial gang and the attack could be linked to it.

Amid criticism of his government over the killing, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann said no one involved in the gruesome murder would be spared and appealed for peace.
Mann said in a tweet, “I am shocked and deeply saddened by the horrific murder of Sidhu Musewala. No one involved will be spared. My condolences and prayers are with his family and his fans across the world. I am in peace with all.” I appeal to stay.”
AAP chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also said that the culprits will be given “severe punishment”.
