Punjab CM Amarinder Singh to meet PM Modi on Wednesday: Sources

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh is expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday, news agency years Quoting sources.

Singh met Congress President Sonia Gandhi for the first time after Navjot Singh Sidhu was made the Punjab Congress President, despite her opposition.

The meeting came amid discussions about a possible cabinet reshuffle in the state, where assembly elections are due early next year.

Later in the day, the Punjab chief minister met Prashant Kishor, who had recently resigned as his political advisor.

Singh also hosted dinner for some of the leaders of Punjab including Rana Sodhi, Manish Tewari, Mohammad Sadiq, Preneet Kaur and former Law Minister Ashwini Kumar.

Despite the tension between Singh and Sidhu, the cricketer-turned-politician has been attacking the government. He has questioned the delay in action by the state government against Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia and other accused in a drug trafficking case.
