Punjab Chief Minister Announces Grant Of Rs.68 Crore For Villages Of Kharar Block – India Times Hindi News – World Latest News Headlines

Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Sunday announced a development grant of Rs 68 crore for 35 villages of Kharar block of Chamkaur Sahib constituency, to ensure overall development of the area. He also announced to upgrade the historic village Gharuan as Nagar Panchayat.

According to a government release, Channi distributed checks worth Rs 14 crore, sanctioning Rs 54 crore to the panchayats of these villages. Speaking at Village Garanga, he said that his government has unveiled a special scheme to waive off electricity bill dues of consumers up to 2 kW to reduce the financial burden on the people.

Appealing to the people to take maximum benefit of the scheme, the Chief Minister said that till now the dues of 96,911 consumers of the state have been waived off to the tune of Rs.77.37 crore. Meanwhile, he said that the state government would soon conduct a survey of visually impaired people across the state and provide best treatment to those who have any chance of regaining their vision.

He made the announcement during a meeting here with a three-member delegation led by Balwinder Singh Chahal.
