Punjab assembly polls: BJP alliance promises 75% local quota in government jobs, 50% in private | Ludhiana News – Times of India

JALANDHAR: Over a week before the Punjab polls, the BJP, Punjab Lok Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt) alliance came out with its manifesto on Saturday, promising 75% reservation for Punjabis in government jobs, 50% quota in private jobs and Rs. 4,000 unemployment allowance for all graduates for two years and 35% reservation for women in all government jobs.
The alliance has also assured massive infrastructure development “to revive Punjab’s economy” with an infrastructure development fund of Rs one lakh crore to be spent over five years. The party also promised “zero tolerance to sacrilege” saying fast-track courts will be set up to decide such cases in a time-bound manner.
The manifesto was released here by central ministers Hardeep Singh Puri and Som Parkash, Punjab Lok Congress leader Raninder Singh, BJP general secretary Dushyant Gautam, secretary Tarun Chugh and state general secretary Subash Sharma. They said that this document was besides the “rural manifesto” released by the alliance a few days ago in Chandigarh, which among several other things promised complete loan waiver for farmers with less than 5 acres of landholdings.
“The manifesto is an elaborate and comprehensive document that spells out the roadmap for revival and development of Punjab’s economy, addressing the issue of drugs and law and order. It will be implemented from the day one after the formation of the government,” Puri said .
In order to improve law and order in the state, domain experts in law, forensics, digital forensics and information technology will be recruited in all police stations for prompt services to the citizens. Cyber ​​Defense Headquarters will be set up for prevention of cyber crimes and 24-hour surveillance of cities through CCTV cameras would be started.
To improve efficiency in the police, the party promised to ensure fixed duty hours for all police personnel in the state and prohibit political influence in police operations.
To check the cross-border infiltration and smuggling of weapons and drugs, the party promised strict drone and CCTV surveillance, construction of electric fences and outposts. Stating that terrorism-hit families were ignored by successive regimes, the NDA announced setting up of a ‘Truth and Reconciliation Commission’ and awarding of Rs 5 lakh compensation to each family. “A memorial “Lost but not forgotten” will be set up,” the alliance has said. It also promised to raise a special Drug Prevention Task Force.
