Punjab Assembly Elections: Campaign started for registration, correction in details in voter list

Punjab Chief Electoral Officer S Karuna Raju on Friday said that a special drive has been started for registration, deletion and correction of details in the electoral rolls in the state as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India. Punjab assembly elections are due early next year.

Known as the Special Summary Amendment, it gives citizens an opportunity to register themselves as voters and verify their electoral details through offline or online means. He said in an official release issued here that in view of the assembly elections to be held in the first quarter of the coming year, this exercise would be done extensively in the entire state from district level, constituency level to booth level.

To further intensify the campaign, door-to-door exercise will be conducted by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) from August 9 to October 31. He said that those who have not been able to register themselves as voters and who find errors in the electoral rolls or have moved to any other constituency can apply for special summary revision of rolls with the qualifying date of January 1, 2022.
