Puneet Rajkumar’s elder brother Shiv Rajkumar gets emotional as he dubs for late actor’s film Gems

Kannada superstar Puneeth Rajkumar, who died of a heart attack in October last year, will star in an action drama Gems, posthumously. However, due to his sudden demise, the dubbing of the film, which was to be done by the late actor, is now being done by his elder brother Shiv Rajkumar. Though most of the post-production process was wrapped up, it was only Puneet’s dubbing that remained. After much deliberation, Shiva Rajkumar was chosen to lend his voice and dub for his younger brother.

Sharing his experience of dubbing for his late brother’s film, Shiva Rajkumar shared how he found it difficult for Puneet to dub in James. According to Asianet, during a media interaction, Shiva Rajkumar said, “I tried dubbing for some scenes, but it is emotionally difficult for me to watch him doing so. I am trying to dub for them. But I need to see how it will be and whether people will accept it or not.”

Shiv Rajkumar also revealed the first look of Puneet from the upcoming Republic Day film Gems, fondly called Appu. Sharing the poster on Twitter, Shiv Rajkumar tweeted, “James as Appu.. Happy Republic Day everyone.” In the poster, Puneet is dressed up as an army officer who is ready for battle.

James is written and directed by Chetan Kumar. The film also stars Priya Anand, Srikanth Meka and Anu Prabhakar in pivotal roles. The film is scheduled to release in March this year. Shiva Rajkumar and his elder brother Raghavendra Rajkumar will also be seen in cameo roles in the film. Fans are extremely excited to witness the much awaited dream of seeing the Rajkummar brothers together on the big screen.

According to news agency PTI, the film is scheduled to release on March 17, which will also be Puneet’s 47th birth anniversary. The Kannada star was last seen in the action-thriller Yuvaratna, which released in April 2021. Known as a power star in the Kannada cinema industry, Puneeth passed away last year due to a heart attack.
