PT Usha Meets Protesting Wrestlers Days After Her “Indiscipline” Remark

PT Usha had said that the opposition of wrestlers is indiscipline

New Delhi:

Days after criticizing the #MeToo protests against federation chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, Indian Olympic Association (IOA) chief PT Usha today met wrestlers at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar.

PT Usha had criticized the wrestlers for not waiting for the report of the committee probing their allegations before deciding to sit on the public protest.

He said, “Protest is indiscipline.”

Ms. Usha said, “The players should not have protested on the streets. They should have at least waited for the report of the committee. What they have done is not good for the game and the country. It is a negative approach.”

The wrestlers had reacted strongly to Ms Usha’s statement, saying they were hurt by her comments as they look up to her for support.

Wrestler Sakshi Malik said, “We are feeling hurt by PT Usha’s remarks. She herself is not supporting us despite being a woman. What indiscipline have we committed? We are sitting here peacefully. If we get justice So we don’t do that.” Said.’

Wrestler Vinesh Phogat It is alleged that he dialed Ms. Usha to discuss his case, but she did not answer his calls. Ms. Phogat said, “…we don’t know whether he is under any kind of pressure.”

Top Indian wrestlers are protesting at Jantar Mantar in the national capital against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh over allegations of sexual harassment.

The Delhi Police has registered two cases against Mr Singh on allegations of sexual harassment. One of the FIRs is based on the complaint of a minor, filed under the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.

Despite assurances of police action, the wrestlers said they would continue with their sit-in demanding the “immediate arrest” of the WFI chief.

The wrestlers said, “We respect the Supreme Court order, but we don’t trust the Delhi Police. This fight is not for the FIR. This fight is for punishing people like him. He should be in jail and His portfolios should be taken away.” Said.
