PSL 2021: Underdog Multan Sultans thump Peshawar Zalmi wins Maiden PSL titleSL

The final match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2021 was played on June 24 at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. The title match was played between Multan Sultans and Peshawar Zalmi, which was easily won by Multan Sultans by 47 runs.

Batting first, Multan Sultans scored 206 runs for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Peshawar Zalmi could only manage 159 for 9 in 20 overs. Shoaib Maqsood and Riley Rossouw hit half-centuries for Multan Sultans, while Imran Tahir took three wickets.

Shan Masood and skipper Mohammad Rizwan gave Multan Sultans a slow but solid start. Both added 68 runs for the first wicket. After the dismissal of these two, Maqsood and Rosu together faced the bowlers of Peshawar Zalmi fiercely.

Maqsood scored an unbeaten 65 off 35 balls, while Rossouw was dismissed for 50 off 21 balls. Khushdil Shah scored an unbeaten 15 off 5 balls. In this way, Multan Sultans put Peshawar Zalmi under pressure by giving a target of more than 200 runs.

Shoaib Malik scored 48 runs off 28 balls for Peshawar Zalmi, but none of the batsmen could play a solid innings except him. Imran Tahir bowled brilliantly and showed the three batsmen of Peshawar Zalmi the way to return to the pavilion. Maqsood was adjudged Player of the Match and Player of the Tournament.
