Protesters clash with police in Patna. Patna News – Times of India

PATNA: Police on Monday lathi-charged, used water cannons and fired pistols in the air to disperse hundreds of protesters who had gathered outside. Bihar BJP Headquarters here in support of their demands.
The agitators included a large number of women, many of whom were carrying children, and were demanding regularization of their jobs as panchayat ward secretaries.

“We have been pushed against the wall. Many of us have offered our services despite not getting stipends on time. The state government has added insult to injury with the new vacancies. This is a clear indication that we are at ease. going out,” he said.
About a fortnight ago, the agitators started a sit-in at Gardani Bagh. Meanwhile, opposition leaders visited the site and expressed solidarity with their cause.
Enthused by the support, they gathered in front of BJP’s Birchand on Monday. Patel Marg Office, seeking assurance from Samrat Chaudhary, The Panchayati Raj Minister, which belongs to the party.
It is not known whether the minister was inside when the protesters were protesting.
When the policemen came and asked them to leave, anger flared up, underlining that no public gathering is allowed on the road.
Some of the protesters said they would proceed to the assembly complex, located half a kilometer away.
A scuffle broke out between protesters and police personnel, and the latter resorted to lathi-charge and water cannons.
Some members of the police team were seen running after the crowd, their pistols coming out of the holster.
However, no shots were fired, police officials said.
By noon the situation returned to normal. No FIR Till now, cases were registered against those involved in “illegal demonstrations”.
