Prophet CommentThe Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on June 14 announced that a nationwide protest will be held by Bajrang Dal activists this week against the recent incidents of violence in some parts of the country over remarks against Prophet Mohammad. Its Delhi unit called on the people of the city to gather in temples and participate in the mass recitation of Hanuman Chalisa on Tuesday to register a protest against the June 10 violence in some parts of the country.

The VHP alleged that on June 10, after prayers in mosques, there were violent demonstrations and stone pelting at temples and homes as part of a well-planned conspiracy to defame India globally. The RSS-affiliated organization said workers of its youth wing would today sit on dharna at district administration headquarters across the country against “increasing extremist incidents by Islamic jihadi extremists” and would also submit a memorandum to President Ram Nath Kovind.

Protests broke out in many parts of the country, including outside Delhi’s Jama Masjid on June 10, against controversial remarks on Prophet Mohammad by now-sacked BJP functionaries Nupur Sharma and Naveen Jindal.

In Jharkhand, some policemen were injured trying to control the protesters, while in Jammu authorities imposed curfew in some areas. In parts of Uttar Pradesh, protesters pelted stones at police, following which they had to lathi-charge and use tear gas shells.

Delhi VHP chief Kapil Khanna said in a statement, “Illegal fatwa was issued for the murder of Nupur Sharma. Hindu society strongly condemns and strongly condemns the pressure exerted on Hindu society due to such illegal demonstrations.” ” “To protest this, I call upon the Hindu society of Delhi to assemble in small and big temples of the city and participate in the mass recitation of Hanuman Chalisa tomorrow (June 14, 2022) at 8 pm,” he said. Khanna also urged the temple managers and priests to give notices to the devotees for spreading the information.

VHP general secretary Milind Parande said that the government, police and society are fully capable of answering this. Parande said the saints in the meeting expressed their displeasure against the violence and termed it as a well-planned conspiracy. The body also demanded a stringent law to prevent conversions and implementation of a Uniform Civil Code.

It also demanded that high-resolution cameras be installed inside and outside every mosque and madrasa, along with Muslim-dominated areas across the country, to monitor activities there in the wake of Friday’s violence.
