Prohibition on use of loudspeakers at religious places, guidelines issued in the midst of azaan debate

MNS chief Raj Thackeray had recently issued a stern warning against playing Azaan on loudspeakers. Meanwhile, the Maharashtra government today announced that it will be mandatory to take permission for use of loudspeakers at religious places. Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil held a meeting with the Director General of Police in this regard today. According to ANI sources, the DGP was directed to inform all the police commissioners and officers about the decision in the meeting.

According to ANI, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Home Minister Patil will meet to discuss the law and order situation in the state and use of loudspeakers. Earlier, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena leader Raj Thackeray spoke in favor of Hindutva. After this, the controversy over the use of loudspeakers increased. Raj Thackeray called upon Hindu brothers to be ready if loudspeakers were not removed from the mosque by May 3. Amidst that warning, the Maharashtra government issued guidelines on loudspeakers.

Raj Thackeray said, ‘Everyone should wait till May 3. My call to all Hindu brothers of the country, you should be ready. Even after May 3, if the loudspeaker is played in any mosque of the country, then we will recite Hanuman Chalisa on the loudspeaker in front of the mosque. According to Raj Thackeray, he does not want to take away the right to pray in any religion. However, they are against playing loudspeakers in the mosque.
